Research Statement:
Engage in research dedicated to examining the impact of reactive oxygen and nitrogen species generated by a plasma device on plant pathogens, under the supervision of Dr. Cornell.
Research Impact:
This research could lead to the industrial adoption of a new disinfectant method in agriculture, boosting crop yields and reducing waste. Additionally, this disinfection approach is more environmentally friendly, as it avoids using toxic chemicals that are harmful to the environment. The research conducted over the summer focused on treating crop seeds important for SW Idaho, such as: cucumber, sweet corn, popcorn, and onion seeds.
